Good Girl, Bad Blood

By: Holly Jackson

If you haven’t read my previous review about the first book, A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder, you should probably read that first so you understand this review. Read it here!

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Holly Jackson grew up in Buckinghamshire, England and wrote her first novel when she was 15 years old. Later, she attended the University of Nottingham, where she first studied literary linguistics and creative writing, graduating with a first class degree, then graduating with a master’s degree in English.

BOOK SUMMARY:

Pip is not a detective anymore. She’s seen what it did to her. It hurt the people around her. She and Ravi Singh released a podcast (A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder) to tell people what really happened during her investigation about the murder of Andie Bell. The podcast is now viral. But then her friend, Conner Reynolds, comes up to her, telling her that his older brother, Jamie, is missing. She has to break her promise. Jamie went missing the same night the town hosted a memorial in the honor of Andie Bell and Sal Singh. She knows the police aren’t going to do anything. It’s up to her to save Jamie… before it’s too late. Pip discovers some dark secrets while investigating. She’s recording it onto her podcast, so this time, everyone is going to be listening…

MY THOUGHTS:

This is a good sequel to A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder. I liked it, but it wasn’t as interesting as the first one.

WARNING! HUGE SPOILERS AHEAD!

NOOOOOO!!!!!!!! Nonononononononononono. I’m saying that because… (Drumroll please) Max Hastings was found not guilty on all charges! Unbelievable! Like Pip, I don’t care what the jury thinks. He is guilty. And I can’t believe Charlie and Flora Green were Layla Mead. Those traitors. And how could Stanley Forbes be Child Brunswick? He did horrible things but he felt guilty. But Charlie still shot him with a gun. 6 shots. That part was terrible, awful, and heart- wrenching. Pip’s tears were miserable and heart breaking. She is 18 years old. And she has seen things that people haven’t seen in their whole lives. And that will break her. Maybe it has already broken her. There is a beating in her, knocking against her ribs. It’s a gun. And it will always live inside her now.

IS THERE A SEQUEL?:

Yes, there is a sequel. I listed them below. I even put their summaries.  I hope you enjoy these books! Happy reading! Well… considering the end of this book… Let’s just say… It isn’t exactly ‘happy’.  But let’s still say ‘Happy reading’ because there are books with happy endings out there!

  • As Good As Dead

Who will look for you when you’re the one that disappears? An anonymous person asks her the same question, constantly, all the time. Pip first assumes it is a stalker, but begins to realize that the threat is moving closer and closer towards her home. The police won’t look into it, and this time, the case might not be something she’s investigating to save others. This time it’s to save herself, maybe from a dangerous serial killer.
