edit: I wrote this yesterday and meant to post it then but it was a bit delayed.
Hi! I am back with another post. I spent the whole week getting ready for tests and exams for the end of the year. I cannot wait for school to be over. Summer is here, people! The temperature is almost always over 85 degrees Fahrenheit (or 29 degrees Celsius). It is boiling here!
I was confused about what I should write so, since it’s Father’s Day, I made a cake and now I’m writing a post about how it went. Like I said in the title, I think it went well. Keyword: think.
So, this was my first time I baked. Or made anything for that matter. Actually, no, I’ve made noodles. Once. I started with a hopeful mind, excited to make cake. So first I put the multi-purpose flour in the bowl. Then I put in some baking soda (note: Put very little baking soda. It’s bad for your health) and baking powder (put, like, around half a spoon). Then I mixed. It was a little messy but it went pretty well. Then I melted a little less than half a stick of butter and poured it in. After that, it was time for the condensed milk. But we ran out and I had to open a new can. Which meant I would have to use the can opener. Which I wouldn’t dare touch. We’ve had a bad history. So I waited around for someone to open it. I waited for an hour.
So I just sat there, bored out of my mind. When someone finally came and opened the can, I realized that I needed milk. So I took it out of the fridge, poured it into a glass and warmed it up (note: use microwave safe glass or cup. Please.). And then I poured some vinegar into the milk (it smelled terrible). I used the cap to measure, so it was around 1 and a half caps. Then I mixed the milk and vinegar and it was very…clumpy. After mixing it, I poured the milk and vinegar mixture into the bowl and I mixed. It was also very clumpy. I stirred. And stirred. And stirred. So, I stirred for quite a while, using up all my energy. By, then, my arms were limp noodles. But I still had to do more things. I poured in the condensed milk. I poured in about … 75 grams? Maybe? Something around that. Well, then! I remembered that I needed to preheat the oven. So I rushed to take every pot and pan out of it and put it on the side. (Kids: Don’t use the oven without a grownup’s help. You could burn the house down and I don’t think your parents will be very happy)
The kitchen was very crowded with me making cake and my mom making dinner. So I was, like, dancing around (not very gracefully) with pots in my hand moving them from the oven to the ground. Now the kitchen was even more crowded. I turned the temperature to 350 degrees Fahrenheit I grabbed a cake pan, put oil on the bottom and sides (so the cake doesn’t stick, or it will never get out) and put the wax paper on the bottom. And then, I remember something. I have no idea how I forgot the sugar. That’s, like, the most important thing. I hurried to put the sugar into the bowl and mixed using up all the energy I had left (which wasn’t much).
I poured the whole thing into the cake pan and hit the pan on the counter to make sure the top was flat. And then I scraped out all the mixture that was clinging to the side of the bowl because I just put so much effort into it, I am not letting anything go to waste. Then I stuck the pan into the oven. And right now, as I write this post, the cake is baking. About 20 minutes ago (5 minutes after I put the cake in the oven) I realized that I forgot the oil. There’s 5 minutes left. We will see the fate of my cake. Be back soon!

Ok, guys. The cake is ready. It looks good. With a golden-brown hue to it. I guess no oil doesn’t matter? I’ll let you know after the taste test!

So, the cake tastes really good! I really like it! It’s very fluffy. So, I think I did pretty good at my first shot at baking! YAY ME!

PS: Don’t mind the writing. It’s a tad bit messy.
