Yo What’s good you guys! So recently (ok not recently but for a while now) I’m sure most of you guys have heard of the book “The Fourth Wing” or the series: “The Empyrean.” This book has gone viral on BookTok and I’ve seen a lot of people reading it. Now, I won’t lie, my TBR is VERY long but I decided to move this book up on the list a bit since people keep asking me about it and so I just lie and say that I’ve read it but then things get complicated when people start asking specific questions. (like, I’m stuck like this for a lot of books: ACOTAR, Powerless, The Twisted Love series, Shatter me [yes, I still think the book is overrated] and more). But ANYWAYS coming back to what we were talking about, I’ve been reading this book and I actually really like it! (sorry I don’t even know if any of the things I’ve said make sense, forgive me š) So, I suppose let’s just dive into it!
SONG: The Great War ā Taylor Swift
āA dragon without its rider is a tragedy. A rider without their dragon is dead. ā
How did I even miss the feeling of reading a book so good that I couldn’t wait to dash to my notes app and jot down a bit about how awesome it is? HUGE shoutout to Fourth Wing and Rebecca for pulling me out of my reading and reviewing slump! First off, there are tons of reasons why I absolutely loved this book, and I gave it a solid 5 stars because it reminded me why reading is just the best. Sure, Iāve enjoyed some reads over the past year, but most of them felt pretty mediocre and dull. Every plot, every character, every love story was just so predictableālike Iād seen it all before. But reading Fourth Wing? Totally refreshing and unique! I was on the edge of my seat every chapter, dying to know what would happen next, and every time something exciting went down, it made me feel like a giddy teenager again, like when I was up at midnight devouring The Hunger Games. The stakes in this book are super high, and no characters are safe! The two main characters might be alright because of plot armor, but everyone else? Youāre gonna have to wait around and find out. Letās kick things off with a couple of reasons why everyone on this planet and beyond HAS to give this book a shot: ā itās set in a WAR COLLEGE. Whatās that mean? Picture Harry Potter meets Zodiac Academy, but way deadlier.
ā°ā⤠VIOLET SORRENGAIL AKA VIOLENCE:

āYou look all frail and breakable, but youāre really a violent little thing, arenāt you?ā
Despite having weak joints and being smaller, she was incredibly fantabulous and strong! Her personality was so relatable that I felt so connected right away. Her anxieties and fears during challenges in the rider’s quadrant, and how she conquered them with her smarts, were truly inspiring. She showed that knowledge is real power! Her rollercoaster of emotionsāfear, anger, desire, happinessākept me amazed. Even when teased and called weak, she never let anyone walk all over her. Which like I love because, like, GIRL POWER!??! š š Honestly this gal is fantabulously amazing. I love her!
ā°ā⤠Xaden Riorson:

āDefenseless women have never been my type.ā
He’s a 10 but….nothing lol he’s just a 10! Smash 100000% He’s the son of a rebel who was executed by Violet’s mother. And he’s part of the reason I love this book so much. Literally, I was squealing. Squealing. And I’m not much of a squealer. But this dude’s the first guy thats actually made me squeal probably since like Darius Acrux or something! Like genuinely, he touched my heart. And I’ve always like the dudes who seem dark, broody, and sarcastic but can be sweet and loving. And no i am most deffos not biased by the fact that he’s also quite good looking. (ok yes maybe I am) But yeah, I love this dude and I love the banter between him and Violet but also his urge to protect her (and maybe it started with the fact that if she dies, he dies, but it certainly turned into more).
Ok I’m gonna leave you with just that. There’s so many more characters that I love like Rhiannon and Dain and Tairn (like he’s so sarcastic but also has good vocab which is great) and Liam (but…iykyk). And also that ending! was SO UNEXPECTED!??!?! But yea. I love the book. A LOT. I cannot wait to read the next one. (but to be honest I’ve heard the plot in Onyx Storm isn’t that good so I’m worried about the 3rd book) But I also just finished the new hunger games book (yes I was reading two books at the same time; well actually I’m technically reading 4 books at the same time) so I might post the review for that one soon. But I’m not sure yet.
EDIT (ALSO…SPOILERS SO READ AHEAD AT YOUR OWN RISK):
Ok, confession time. I had not read the whole book when I wrote this review. I’m so sorry šš But yes I do know what happened to Liam. And honestly, I almost cried. I love Liam. He’s like my second favorite guy character in this series. Right after Xaden obvi. He was literally so sweet and kinda and I loved him so much. so a moment of silence plase. *a moment* ok. but honestly guys how i’m gonna get over the fact that liam’s gone, is unknown. and that ending WAS CRAZY.
XOXO
