Fearless

I’ve finally finished Fearless!! After so long! But honestly, I got a bit sidetracked by school but whatever, it’s fine. And the ending I feel like is the most WHOLESOME in the series (which makes sense because it’s the last books so….).

“Fearless” picks up after the events of the previous book, “Reckless,” where Paedyn and Kai return to the Kingdom of Ilya. The story revolves around their complicated relationship and the political turmoil surrounding them. Paedyn is faced with the daunting prospect of marrying Kai’s brother, Kitt Azer, which would unite the Elites and Ordinaries but threatens her love for Kai.

And as a quick reminder (or if you haven’t read the series but if you haven’t why’re you here? go read my powerless review first): Ilya is a kingdom of Elites (or so the people thought) but the truth is there were Ordinaries living in plain sight (such as Paedyn). Elites are people with powers and Ordinaries are….well….they’re ordinary! In the first books, Paedyn struggled and fought to survive the Trials which were a test for Elites. That’s also where she met Kai. In the second book, she was on the run for the murder of the King (aka Kai and Kitt’s father). And now in the third book, we find out what happens after Kitt declares that he will marry her.

Now I had already known in Reckless that Kai and Paedyn would DESTROY me in Fearless. And I was right. I am destroyed. (Not as destroyed as I was at the end of Onyx Storm though) Kai and Paedyn are back together in this book but not really together together because she’s kinda gonna be marrying his brother, Kitt, for political reasons. But in this book, some MAJOR secrets are revealed. Like you will be SHOCKED.

Now onto the characters. I love talking about characters personally. I don’t know why, I just do. Paedyn (MY QUEEN) was as amazing as always or maybe even better. She was definitely growing into the whole queen thing. She’s fierce and witty and so in love. Now I like to think she’s my soul character, but let’s be so for real. I’m more like Kitt than I am her. The song I relate with her is “Part Goddess, Part Gangster” it is so Pae.

And then there’s Kai (is it weird if I find Kai Azer like amazing but MALAKAI AZER is, like, sooo fineeeeeee?) oh my god, Kai Azer had me swooning so hard I honestly forgot to breathe sometimes. And his love for Paedyn! Like forget Romeo and Juliet or whatever! I WANT WHAT THESE PEOPLES TO HAVE! This man is such a poet like tell me where I can find a real guy just like him! He may be a mass killer but all is forgiven because he has dimples. And Pae and Kai’s getting married part was so adorable. I love how they did it under the willow tree.

People also tend to forget that Paedyn is just as obsessed and in love with Kai as he is with her. He just makes the bigger gestures and the very corny but sweet lines. God, they just make me kick my feet and squeal so much. oh to be looked at the way Kai looks at Paedyn. Oh to be loved the way he loves her and to love the way she loves him. (guys, look, I’m turning into Malakai Azer the Poet.)

And the most complicated character (in my opinion): Kitt. I feel like people have very mixed opinions about him. Like one of my friends, she DESPISED Kitt (and she made sure I knew it while I was reading the series). But now that I’ve finished the series, personally I liked Kitt. On my list for favorite characters, he would definitely be on the podium. But people have a variety of thoughts on Kitt. Some say he’s just misunderstood (I agree) and others just hate him because he tried to separate Kai and Paedyn and ruin the kingdom. And the song I relate with Kitt is “Family Line” by Conan Gray

But I do recommend this book. It has a quite a bittersweet ending. It’s really sweet because…well you’ll see. iykyk. And it’s bitter because some characters were not there to make it better. And my favorite quotes ever:

“See you in the sky.” – Literally Mak why you making me cry bro.

“Love each other for me.” – Ok, this may or may not have made me cry more.

(i don’t remember the exact quotes but it’s something like “the king left a mark on my heart and now I would leave one across his kingdom”) – literally my queen, Paedyn Gray

“This life is sweet. Like honey.” – Aghhhh I loved Adena

“You will forever be my undoing.” – Ladies and Gentlemen I present to you, Kai Azer, the rizz king (MY rizz king, mind you. Y’all can go find your own Aaron Warners and Cardan Greenbriars)
