Book review

They both die at the end

This is the most amazing, wholesome, moving, heartbreaking book I have ever read. As well as tons of valuable life lessons, the plot is just so good and the ending nearly moved me to tears. It also displays how lucky we are to be alive in a world where people are constantly dying (I know, I, and probably anyone else reading this, have been told countless times how lucky we are to be alive, but I never really thought about it so deeply until I finished this book). The main characters’ love is so filling and their friendship is undying and wonderful. I highly recommend this book for all teens and adults, as it will evoke so many emotions and once you finish it, it will leave you in one of those shocked states where you just stare into space, deep in thought about how intense and wonderful the story is. It’s a book that makes us feel grateful that we’re alive. There aren’t many books (especially fiction books) that leave us like that. I love how there are multiple side characters that tie into their story and journey. From the beginning I knew they were going to die but I got emotionally attached to them and their friendship/relationship which made it so much harder when they did die at the end. The last line “I cross the street without an arm to hold me back” breaks me every time I read it especially when I think back to the part in the book when Rufus was going to cross the street and Mateo puts his arm out to look both ways for him and when he says that, I think he’s referring to Mateo which hurts so much more when you think of of it that way. It surely opens your eyes on how you see life and will make you feel grateful for every second you get to spend with your loved ones.  Thank you, Adam Silvera (the author) for this beautiful and heart touching story. This book is definitely in my top three favorite books. And I hope everyone reads it and loves it as much as I do. I recommend this book to people who want to read books that make them grateful, people who are 13 years old and above. But don’t expect a happy ending. I will write a detail review on this book with other interesting details after my Quarterly exams are over. By the way, I hope you read my earlier mini review on ” Delirium “, that is also a awesome book.
