We’ve been talking about Team Edward vs Team Jacob for, like, forever now. Stephanie Meyer obviously chose Edward, but that hardly calmed the debate. If anything, she made it more intense (No offense). so for this review, I asked one of my friends who is totally on Team Edward (i don’t know how we’re friends) for some help. My friends doing the Pros for Edward and Cons for Jacob. I’m doing Cons for Edward and Pros for Jacob, and you guys are gonna be the ultimate deciders of who makes the better argument. Alright, let’s kick things off with Edward, shall we?
Team Edward

Pros: Brooding, sullen (sullen Cullen, get it?) and beautiful. He’s been around for, like, over 100 years but still looks like a high schooler, with those marble-y Greek god features. He’s all patient and understanding, unless Bella’s safety is at risk (which happens a lot because she’s, like, adorkably clumsy). And of course, he loves fast cars because all vampires do! He’s a total thrill behind the wheel of his Volvo. Oh, and did I mention, vampires don’t need sleep? So he’s this amazing piano player who spends hours listening to music. According to Edward, the ’50s were better than the ’60s, and the ’80s were just awful. Like, seriously terrible. Edward and Bella are soulmates, I mean, they get married. It’s our OTP. It’s all part of his intense stalker-like obsession. But hey, his family is pretty cool, and they’re rich. And spoiler alert he didn’t imprint on a child.
Cons: Brooding, sullen, and totally pathetic. Hot Vampire? Please. He may have good looks but he totally bailed on Bella, his supposed true love, and left her a total mess. And even Robert Pattinson can’t stand this dude. I think everyone can agree that Edward is just way too perfect. Like, seriously, nobody can be that awesome at everything. Oh, and let’s not forget his cheesiest line ever: “And then the lion fell in love with the lamb.” So cringeworthy. And not our OTP. Your OTP. And I’m going to ignore on the imprinting part, because imprinting is done subconsciously. It not something Werewolves can control.
Team Jacob

Pros: Let me introduce you to Jacob Black, a truly remarkable character. Jacob embodies loyalty, passion, and an unwavering zest for life (total opposite of Edward). Jacob is depicted as a gentle and kind-hearted individual, making him an ideal friend for Bella. In fact, Jacob’s endearing nature and genuine kindness make him someone you’d want by your side during your high school years. While he does have moments of hot-headedness, it only adds to his charm.
Unlike Edward, who embodies the brooding and mysterious persona, Jacob is relatable and grounded. He leads a normal life, with a caring father and a group of loyal friends. In New Moon, Jacob stands as a pillar of support for Bella as she goes through her struggles. He grapples with his own challenges, such as discovering his werewolf identity, but remains a steadfast friend throughout.
It’s important to note that Edward’s behavior towards Bella can be seen as controlling, as evidenced by the incident involving Bella’s truck. Jacob, on the other hand, respects Bella’s agency and independence. His genuine care for her shines through, making him an even more appealing character.
In summary, Jacob Black brings an optimistic and relatable energy to the Twilight series. His loyalty, passion, and down-to-earth nature make him a beloved character that resonates with readers. Even Taylor Lautner loves Jacob. “‘I love Jacob and his heart, but he’s a little annoying,’ he said. He made sure to let fans know he still loves his character. “I’ll always have Jacob’s back,” he said.’ See, even the actors love Jacob!
Cons: Okay, listen up. So, this dude Jacob is like Bella’s brother or something. They used to hang out together, making mud-pies and all that. But seriously, he’s always playing catch-up. Bella doesn’t need his constant warnings about her boyfriend, alright Jake? Twilight is, like, all about romance vibes. The lead romantic guy needs to be mysterious and captivating. And let me tell you, Jacob starts getting more attractive as he gets older and becomes a supernatural creature himself. But in the beginning, Edward has that mysterious thing going on already. Plus, Jacob is like 2 or maybe 3 years younger than Bella. And don’t even get me started on the whole “imprinting” thing. It’s like werewolf language for “dibs.” Way creepier than Edward’s stalkerish vibe, if you ask me. Oh, and spoiler alert, Jacob actually imprints on a 2 day old girl. Creepy. But I won’t reveal who the girl’s mom is. At least Edward respects Bella’s independence and lets her make her own choices. So yeah, not really a big fan of Jacob, as you can probably tell!
Now it’s up to you. Edward or Jacob? Let us know in the comments. See you in my next and maybe final Twilight Saga review. Toodles!
